Position Information

Position Summary
The Pathology Services Bureau of the Department of Medical Examiner is inviting applications for the position of Medical Examiner on a full-time basis. Successful candidates will undergo a probationary and training phase prior to achieving full salary and benefits.

Those working in this position are licensed physicians with a subspecialty in forensic pathology. Successful candidates will report to the Chief Medical Examiner, or delegated line manager, and provide specialized medical services.

Essential Job Functions

Performs medical work in a specialized medical field, including specialized autopsy procedures within Forensic Pathology specialty.
Conducts training or assists in the training of resident or fellow physicians.
Conducts the more difficult post mortem examinations and may provide training of other physicians engaged in these activities.
Confers with medical and professional personnel in such related fields as toxicology in order to discover the main and contributing causes of death.
Providing information to various agencies and securing information from governmental and private agencies
Certifies as to the cause of death and testifies in court as an expert witness.

Incumbents must be competent in autopsy procedures, determining cause of death, assessing signs of illness or injury, reviewing laboratory and radiological data, and directing forensic technicians in autopsy procedures. The position is responsible for training and/or assisting in the training of physicians assigned to residency or fellowship programs. Incumbents are required to exercise knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and to actively demonstrate skills typically associated with Forensic Pathology.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications

Applicants are required to be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
Applicants are required to possess a valid drivers license within the State of San Andreas.
Applicants are required to maintain fluent communicative skills within the English language, both written and verbal.
Applicants must have a clean criminal record for this vacancy.
Applicants must have the following:
1. Residency in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomical and Clinical Pathology
2. Fellowship in Forensic Pathology, or equivalent program approved by the National Medical Examiners Organization
3. Registered member of the National Medical Examiners Organization
4. San Andreas State Physician and Surgeon's Certificate

(( Applicants MUST have experience within the medical field/or forensic pathology ))

Selection Process

Stage 1 - Application Stage
You must fill out a student application form located in below and it will be forwarded to the Human Resources Division. Your application will then be reviewed and a decision will be made within twenty four (24) to forty eight (48) hours.

Stage 2 - Interview
Once you have passed the application stage you will then move forward onto our interview stage. During this stage, your competence and suitability will be assessed by the Chief Medical Examiner (Director).

Stage 3 - Review
Your full application and interview will be reviewed by the Executive Staff and Human Resources Division of the Department of Medical Examiner.

Stage 4 - Offer
If you are chosen for the position, you will receive an offer of employment from the Human Resources Division.
